Wow, I don’t even know where to start. I think I’ll start with Kristin, because that might be the easiest (and shortest) to explain.

I baby-sat Collin for a few hours while Kristin went to the gym yesterday. Only it turned out to be a lot longer than a few hours. While she was in the gym, Kristin’s car was broken into and her (brand-new, $165) purse was stolen. The thing is, the guy who stole her purse must have been watching her, because she put her purse in the trunk before she went in, and he didn’t take anything else. Just smashed the driver’s side window, popped the trunk, and left. Kristin had to cancel all her credit cards, turn off her cell phone, call insurance agencies, and all that other stuff. And her insurance doesn’t cover the window, so Mike and Kristin have to pay for it themselves, and it will be something like $170. That’s shitty. Then Collin and I get to spend about 4 hours in the car while we drive around to get everything taken care of. In all there was:

  • going to the DOL because Kristin needed a new license
  • driving to her and Mike’s work to pick up his wallet (and get plastic for the window)
  • driving around the gym to see if the guy ditched her purse anywhere
  • going to the grocery store to get duct tape (find out they don’t have any) and a snack lunch
  • going to the car wash so she could vacuum out the broken glass
  • going to Target to get duct tape
  • stopping at home to put the plastic on the window (it was ghetto fabulous)
  • driving to mom’s to borrow some money to fix the window
  • finally, we picked Lesley up and she dropped us off back at my house. This was about 6pm, after we went to the DOL at about 1:45pm. So yeah, sitting that long in a car is not fun, but I was willing to do it to help Kristin.
Anyway, Kristin was really upset about everything and cried for part of the day. I feel so bad for her, and I wish I could do something for her, but at least she knew what to do. The good news at least is, there was a witness to the theft that got a description of the guy and took his license plate number. Hopefully they catch him. I’m just glad that she didn’t get hurt or anything like that.

So, some other things that have been going on…

Lesley’s cousin finally cracked today and said he can go to Reno, and is even buying him a ticket. The bad news is, his flight is at 6am tomorrow (Monday the 4th), and I don’t get to say bye to him before he leaves. I’m looking at sites to find the lowest fares, but if all else fails, I can take Greyhound (I’m hoping I don’t have to). I’m really happy and completely bummed at the same time. I’m happy that Lesley is finally away from the bitch and her abuse, and that we’ll be going to Reno, FINALLY. But at the same time, I’m really sad because we’re going separately and because Lesley really didn’t have a chance to say bye to his friends, or anything like that, and I probably won’t get to say bye to Ashley before I leave. But at least Lesley and I will be together again in like a week. Damn, a week feels like so long. I’ll just have to keep busy between now and the time I leave so I don’t go completely crazy. That shouldn’t be too hard-I’ve got lots to do. I should start looking at fares, huh?
